Following an off-season of trades, signings and other player movement…plus numerous try-out and mini-camps…the 2018 C-F-L season is ready to officially start for the Saskatchewan Roughriders Sunday.
Over 80 players went through medical and physical testing before travelling from Regina to Saskatoon Saturday for the start of training camp. General manager and head coach Chris Jones is going into his third season at the controls of the Green and White’s on-field fortunes, looking for another progression. In 2016, the Riders stumbled to a 5-13 record, but came back in 2017 with a 10-8 mark. While that was only good for fourth place in the West Division, Saskatchewan earned a cross-over spot in the East Division playoffs…beating Ottawa in the semi-final before losing to the eventual Grey Cup-champion Toronto Argonauts in the East final.
Starting with Sunday’s double on-field session, running from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the public is welcome to take in the Roughriders’ training camp at Griffiths Stadium on the U of Saskatchewan campus.
