A body was found in a slough on Monday afternoon in the Onion Lake area, which is about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster.
Onion Lake RCMP report a passerby called in the report the discovery at Nine Mile Road, just south of the Chief Taylor Road intersection.
The man has been identified and police are notifying the next of kin and trying to determine what happened, how and when the man died and became submerged.
