The public into the inquest into the death of a 21 year old woman who was being held at the White Birch Remand Unit in Regina in August of 2015 resumes today (Mon). The last week of March was the first week for the inquest in Regina. Breanna Kannick of Moose Jaw was found unresponsive in her cell and efforts to resuscitate her weren’t successful. She was in custody after not showing for a court appearance on drug possession charges. There is always an inquest when an inmate at a jail or correctional facility dies, unless the coroner is satisfied the death was due entirely to natural causes or was not preventable.
**inquest begins at 9:30 at Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Regina
