The province’s insurance corporation is investing in some new technology.
SGI announced this week they’re investing over two million dollars for 77 new automated license plate readers.
Minister Responsible for SGI Joe Hargrave says the readers give law enforcement the ability to look for a variety of things.
“They’ll be able to pick up on, on drivers that are suspended, guys that are wanted by the police, ah guys that are even suspended for… from hunting because they’ll even be able to pick up on those guys from their licence plates.”
Hargrave says driving at a normal speed, the machines will be able to read and register a plate a second.
