I have to thank my friends at Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan for the idea for today’s talk which is about things we say today that we owe to Shakespeare. I didn’t realize there were so many, such as “Fight fire with Fire”, “The game is up”. “Heart of Gold”. “Faint hearted”. “Too much of a good thing”. “Wear your heart on your sleeve”. “Break the ice”. “Baited Breath”. “Love is blind”. “Wild goose chase”. “Vanish into thin air”. “Dead as a doornail”. “Laughing stock”. “The game is up”. “Fair play/foul play”. “Too much of a good thing”. “What’s done is done”. “Brave new world”. “Be all/end all”. “For goodness sake”. “Come what may”. ”Seen better days”. “ Good riddance”. “So-so”. “ Lie low”. “Full circle”. And yes, even “Knock, knock! Who’s there?”, as in knock, knock! Who’s there? Owls say. Owls say who? Yes they do.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
