Saskatoon area veterans having difficulty moving back into civilian life will soon get help from their peers. An organization that has developed a rehabilitation process for ex-members of the military is coming to the city Friday. The Veterans Transition Network has spent twenty years developing and sharing its work around the country. Executive Director of Operations Oliver Thorne said they have learned there is no one better to help veterans make the transition than other veterans. Thorne said post-traumatic stress is a common problem but there is a more basic issue. He points out after years of camaraderie and structure in the military it can be tough to interact in a new work environment and even with family. In addition to Friday’s session, participants will get about 100-hours of counseling through workshops over a four to six week period.
