Saskatoon’s Municipal Planning Commission will look today at a zoning amendment for possible Cannabis retail outlets in the Broadway Business District. The entire district would be ineligible under the proposed 160-metre buffer zone between Cannabis stores and schools or parks. Reducing that to 60-metres in the Broadway area has been recommended.
Business District Executive Director DeeAnn Mercier says that’s a good starting point but boundary specifications would still disqualify parts of their retail sector. She says prospective operators are interested in the Broadway area and residents see retail Cannabis as an opportunity and not a detriment to the community.
