The Saskatoon Food Bank’s city wide drive is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
About 500 volunteers will fan out around Saskatoon to pick up bags left out for them.
Executive Director Laurie O’Connor says demand has been increasing steadily over the past five years and over 40-percent of their clients are children.
She says canned protein products, whole grain pasta and sauce as well as cereal, baby food and formula are their most popular items as they serve about 20-thousand people each month.
O’Connor says anyone who didn’t get the food bank bags distributed around Saskatoon, any bag will do.
Their goal is 100-thousand pounds.
