A Public inquest into the death of 38 year old Michael Ryan will be held next week at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon. Ryan was arrested in February of 2016 after Saskatoon Police responded to calls about a man wandering into traffic. He was arrested and charged with breach of court conditions and outstanding warrants. He was found unresponsive in his cell that same day, taken to hospital, and pronounced dead. The Chief Coroner holds an inquest whenever an inmate dies at a jail or a correctional facility, unless satisfied that the death was due to natural causes and was not preventable. Coroner Robert Kennedy will preside.
