An attack on a Regina cab driver earlier this month in which he was stabbed repeatedly, and spent days in intensive care before being released, has caused the provincial justice minister to ask for a review by the Workers Compensation Board.
Don Morgan is asking the WCB to looking at what coverage is available, what should be available, and what kind of recommendations they can make. Another part of the review will center around whether or not safety shields should be installed in all cabs between the front and back seats.
Morgan says these are people who would be considered self-employed and, as such, have no coverage. He says they probably don’t know that they don’t have coverage so he thinks it would be a good idea to have WCB conduct some public awareness. (CKRM News)
