The Gabriel Dumont Chair in Metis Studies has been launched at the University of Saskatchewan. The Gabriel Dumont Institute is contributing $200 thousand over five years to fund the chair’s research initiatives. It is also supplying another $100 thousand over five years to support new graduate student scholarships. That funding will be matched by the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to create two annual awards of $20 thousand each over the five-year term. The search for the new Metis chair is expected to begin soon with a projected start date of next January. The first scholarships are scheduled to be awarded during the 2018/19 academic year. For the scholarship, preferential treatment will be given to Metis applicants.
