The Executive Director of the Saskatoon Community Foundation says there is a link between donating to charity and successful businesses. Carm Michalenko says the proof is in a 2017 report called “Vital Signs”. She presented its findings to a Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce audience which pointed to a measured business impact from directing resources toward socially responsible causes. Michalenko suggested fewer high school drop outs and youth in custody would mean a better customer base in the future. She also feels businesses who donate will attract quality workers in addition to customers.
