Generally speaking, wholesale merchants’ sales were off across Canada January-to-February, declining 0.8 per cent. Saskatchewan’s numbers were down 2.6 per cent. Only Manitoba took a bigger hit with decline of 3.7 per cent. Statistics Canada says that was the fourth consecutive month for declines here. The miscellaneous subsector accounted for the lion’s share of the drop. Year-to-year, Saskatchewan’s numbers were down 0.4 per cent; again, only Manitoba was worse with a drop of 2.7 per cent. Across the country though, sales were up five percent. Total sales in Saskatchewan in February rang in at about $2.12 billion.
