The Saskatoon Stars are on their way to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia for Sunday’s start of the Esso Cup, Canadian Female Midget Triple-A Hockey Championship tournament.
It’s the third time in four years that the Saskatchewan champions are in the event. By the time they take on the Brampton, Ontario, Canadettes in the first game of the tournament Sunday morning, it’ll have been 15 days between games for the since winning the West Regional series over Eastman. The Esso Cup is a week-long, six-team round-robin plus playoffs format. The Stars were ranked first in the country pretty much all season. They won a bronze medal in 2015 and lost the third place game in 2016.
