Canada’s annual inflation rate continued creeping higher last month to hit 2.3 per cent. Inflation was 2.2 per cent in February and 1.7 per cent in January. Statistics Canada says the annual pace of inflation was the highest since it hit 2.4 per cent in October 2014, just as the oil-price slump was getting underway. Saskatchewan’s rate was steady at 2.9 per cent. That was highest of the provinces. Saskatoon’s rate rose to 3.0 per cent from 2.9. Of 16 cities surveyed, only two were higher: Regina at 3.1 and Vancouver at 3.2.
