The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority announced earlier this year the process for businesses to apply for the 51 available cannabis storefront licences, and now is accepting applications for the wholesale side of things.
Wholesalers with permits will be able to buy cannabis from federally-licensed producers that are registered to supply the Saskatchewan market.
The Wholesalers must physically operate in Saskatchewan but there is no limit to the number of permits and no deadline to apply.
Federally licensed producers must also register with the SLGA.
The process to select the retail permits is continuing, with more than 15-hundred submissions by the deadline of April 10th.
Minister responsible for the SLGA, Gene Makowsky, says now it’s down to evaluating the submissions.
Those that meet the requirements will be randomly selected and the retail permittees will be announced prior to federal legalization.
