There was a meeting earlier this week between members of the group, “Sixty [sic] Scoop Indigenous Survivors Saskatchewan” and representatives of the provincial government. The survivors shared some of their personal stories to provide some insight to Deputy Premier Gord Wyant and Warren Kaeding, the Minister of First Nations, Metis, and Northern Affairs. In a release, the survivors group says this was a preliminary meeting related to an apology from the province to the scoop survivors. Spokesperson Melissa Parkyn says her group looks forward to working with the government to develop a process that will give survivors an opportunity to be heard in safe surroundings.
