Adding PST to used vehicles after rising the rate from 5 to 6 per cent in the previous fiscal year’s budget is a $95-million tax grab.
That’s what opposition leader Ryan Meili argued in the Saskatchewan Legislature today (Tues).
He says when the current government first ran for election they talked about affordability.
Meili wonders what happened to that priority with PST on essential services such as the family car or kids’ clothes.
Premier Scott Moe says the tax was implemented after much consultation and aligns Saskatchewan with all other jurisdictions that have a provincial tax.
He adds it’s part of a broader initiative to balance the budget in 3 years.
