The Saskatchewan Rush have secured top spot in the National Lacrosse League standings as well as home-turf advantage throughout the upcoming playoff season following an 11-8 victory over the Colorado at SaskTel Centre Saturday night. The Rush were lead offensively by Robert Church who had 3 goals and 4 assists and Mark Matthews who scored a goal a put up 6 assists. Forward Ben McIntosh who scored twice and tallied two assists had this to say following the win over the Mammoth “Having home-court advantage is big. It’s something we’ve been chasing all year. It’s sort of our first milestone to achieve for the year and now we go forward.” Rush goalie Evan Kirk made 36 saves while Colorado goalie Dillion Ward made 35 saves. The Rush also sported special stickers on their helmets Saturday night with the hashtag #SaskStrong Broncos to honour those killed and affected by Friday’s horrific crash that involved the Humboldt Broncos team bus. The Rush have a doubleheader next weekend that kick-offs Friday night in Vancouver when the Rush visit the 2-13 Stealth before returning home Saturday night to host the Georgia Swarm at SaskTel Centre. Friday’s broadcast starts at 7:30 on 98 Cool.
