It’s going to be a long wait for the Regina Pats…just ask the Saskatoon Blades! The Pats lost game seven of their first round WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final series to Swift Current Monday night by a 3-2 score. Broncos’ captain Glenn Gawdin scored the winning goal. That means the Pats will wait on the sidelines for 46 days until they play in the opening game of the MasterCard Memorial Cup in May at the Brandt Centre in Regina. Meanwhile, Swift Current will play the winner of an Eastern quarter between Prince Albert and the Warriors with Game 7 tonight in Moose Jaw.
In the Western Conference of the WHL, Victoria forced a seventh game in their series by beating Vancouver 4-3 in overtime and the Spokane downed Portland 5-2. Both of those Conference quarter-finals are going to a seventh game as well…both tonight in Victoria and Portland, respectively.
