Plastic Bags No Longer Allowed in Saskatoon Blue Recycling Bins

As of Sunday plastic film will not be allowed in your blue recycling bin in Saskatoon.

Plastic film is not recyclable. This includes grocery bags, sandwich bags, cling-wrap and any other stretchy plastics.

Loraas recommends you return your grocery bags to the grocery store and switch to re-usable bags. Plastics Number-1 to Number-7 are still recyclable.

And if you have shredded paper in your recycle bin, Loraas asks that you put it in clear or clear blue plastic bags only. This allows Loraas workers to see it quickly and grab it off the line to recycle that paper. For other recyclable items, you are asked not to put them in bags.
