Kindersley, Melfort and Swift Current will have new MLAs after today’s (Thurs) by-elections.
In Kindersley, 11-hundred-77 people voted during advance polling. That’s fewer that in 2016, which saw 15-hundred-74 advance votes. In Melfort, 12-hundred-69 people took advantage of the advance polls as compared to over 15-hundred in 2016. Swift Current was the only one of the three where there were more people voting this time around with 16-hundred-and-20, compared to over 13-hundred in 2016. The polls are open today from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Kindersley and Swift Current by-elections are to fill the seats left by Bill Boyd and former Premier Brad Wall, who retired. Kevin Phillips represented the Melfort area, and died unexpectedly last fall.
